Everything you need to know before your first visit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to make an appointment?
No referral needed for most services. Simply call us at (915) 313-4114 or fill out our contact form and we'll get you scheduled.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept most major insurance plans including TRICARE, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, United, Cigna, and Humana. Call us to verify your specific plan — coverage verification is always free.
What happens at my first appointment?
All new patients receive a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. This allows our providers to understand your full history and pair you with the right clinician and treatment approach for your individual needs.
How quickly can I be seen?
We offer same-week appointments for most services. We know mental health can't always wait — we do our best to see you as soon as possible.
Do you offer telehealth appointments?
Yes. Many of our services are available via telehealth. Please mention this preference when you contact us and we'll confirm availability for your specific needs.
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes — we are actively accepting new patients across all services. We'd love to welcome you to the NLWC family.
Do you treat children and adolescents?
Yes. NLWC provides mental health services for individuals of all ages — children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.
What is medication management?
Medication management is the ongoing process of evaluating, prescribing, and adjusting psychiatric medications with a licensed provider (psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner). It's often combined with therapy for the best outcomes.
How do I get an ESA letter?
Schedule a clinical evaluation with one of our licensed providers. If an Emotional Support Animal is determined to be part of your treatment plan, your provider will issue an official ESA letter. The process is typically completed in one visit.
Is my information kept confidential?
Absolutely. All patient information is protected under HIPAA. Your privacy is not just our legal obligation — it's our commitment to you.
